There are two bootleg trailers for Kill Bill floating around. The first one listed on that page is purported to be the one Quentin Tarantino cut himself but couldn't get distributed as the "actual" trailer, for what it's worth. It's a good trailer, no matter how it came about. I'm actually digging the trailer though I reserve the right to not even consider passing judgement on the actual film until I see it, after giving up on the screenplay. (I read part of a leaked screenplay and didn't get very far, mostly because it felt as if ol' QT was trying too hard to be as clever as his clever little head could be, using split screens and stuff when he really shouldn't have.) The trailer, however, eases my fears slightly about the twee-and-clever portion. It didn't look amazing and it didn't look too clever, it just looked like fun.

As Tarantino has ganked numerous action film styles for the film itself, he also did a decent job with making sure his trailer evoked some parts of earlier movie advertising. Unfortunately, the majority of the trailer is still slickly-edited with flashy cuts and MTV-style pacing, which I don't care too much for but there you go. I would have loved to have seen a vintage 1970s trailer, you know, the kind where the music and action stop suddenly for a scene with dialogue, but there are two very nice throwbacks to the old trailer genre here.

It's little touches shown in the first two shots that I enjoy. I still will withhold judgement on the entire film until I've seen it, but I can say that at least one of the trailers for it is cool. (The second trailer is even more slickly-edited and what you'd expect from a Hollywood Hit Machine, but the benefit of the alternate is that you get to see a lot of the girl from Battle Royale dressed as a Japanese schoolgirl with a big iron ball and chain. I bet I know whose interest that just piqued.)
