Stanley Jimbrowski mentioned, in a previous episode of beat the dead horse slowly (er, I mean, one of my journal entries) that the Spin Doctors seem to be available and ready for any kind of work, including 10-year high school reunions.

Well, my 10th actually had a band, unofficially: there was a band playing at the bar we gathered at, though it was completely unconnected to our festivities. They were pretty much a 12-bar quartet or quintet, churning out ol' chestnuts like Mustang Sally and Midnight Special and they looked like they were having a good time, and they weren't half bad, either.

One of the members hung out on the deck with us between sets, a jovial fellow who enjoyed drinking and chatting. I asked him what the name of his band was and he grinned.

"We're called the Having Fun Band," he said, between swigs of beer. "We tossed a few names around but realized that we're just out here having fun, so that's who we are. We come out, play the music we like, get paid, and best of all, we get free drinks. Yeah, we're having fun. And if you're not having fun" -- another swig of beer -- "well, fuck you!"

Hearing this, the drunken Spatchel was enlightened.
