today's doggerel
May. 19th, 2004 01:08 amTommy had the basement; Marge, the chairs,
Helen made some cookies and fruit punch.
Stanley kept a lookout on the stairs
While Kevin gave out leaflets by the bunch.
The meeting fell apart before too long,
Ellen watched the carnage, brokenhearted
And though Paul tried to calm the angry throng
Everything was done before it started.
And what, pray tell, provoked them to see red?
Why those assembled all ran for the border?
O cruel semantics, this is what was said:
"Let the Anarchist Club meeting come to order!"
(It's just as well the people up and went--
Their next task was to choose Club President.)
