May. 21st, 2006 02:32 pmWell, we did a lot of good yesterday. Three full table rows at the Summer Shack, a lot of seafood, and then the party back up here on Hall. There were so many people I never thought I'd see again, all in my living room, drinking and laughing and watching truly embarassing videos from 15 years ago. A phrase bandied about a little bit was "Well, see, drag just kinda happened at church camp."
So it did.
The group of survivors who didn't have to take the T home stayed after to help clean up, and it was very nice of 'em to do so. We all spent quite a bit of time out on the porch with our various subtances before it got too cold. Some of the folks I had never really gotten to know well as a youth, so it was interesting to see where our paths had taken us over the years, and just what we had in common. As a result now I have some good friends up in Maine I didn't think I'd have. After the cleanup I cooked some noodles, watched the first episode of Northern Exposure (got the first two seasons, hooray) and marvelled at just how much I remembered of the pilot.
And when I woke up this morning, my back had gone out again. I'm alternating between sitting and lying down. The cat seems to understand and happily curls up around me when I'm lying down. Though I think he was a little bit disappointed to not get pancakes like I'd promised. Not that I was going to actually bring any back for him, but hope springs eternal for the mellow cat.
