It's Opening Day over at Friendly Fenway, and the local soft-schmock radio station at the convenience store was celebrating by playing John Fogerty's "Centerfield" this morning. Talk about wholly inappropriate for the occasion! I mean, everybody knows you only play that song during a player substitution.

In the spirit of talkin' baseball (from Maine to San Diego), I'll share one of the latest offerings from Improv Everywhere, the primarily New York-based group whose impish, harm-no-one-but-do-baffle-em-if-you-can stunts are now being copied by college students and Internet hipsters around the country. Apparently the group was courted by network television and filmed a pilot or two, which explains why they got the budget to be pull off this Little League prank entitled The Best Game Ever.

I won't say any more about the bit other than mention that the buildup is absolutely perfect and that the kids were completely thrilled, which is how all good shenanigans should end.

Okay, now stomp out numbers in Morse Code.
