One minute twenty seconds into Lost in La Mancha and I notice Terry Gilliam and I share the same taste in pens. I've been using the Pilot Precise for almost 15 years now. And there he is in the opening sequence, sketching Don Quixote storyboards with one. Only he prefers to leave the cap off when he draws. I like the cap left on so I can gnaw on it when necessary. I don't suppose I need to tell you that Mr. Gilliam is in my Upper Pantheon of Geniuses, because if he wasn't I wouldn't have felt the need to mention the whole pen thing.

The documentary is very depressing, considering the way his film project crumbles, so I'm glad I found something uplifting right near the beginning. It's funny, the little human connections you make from time to time that are trivial by nature but so affirming in spirit.

I wish I could see the movie he meant to make. The little snippets were almost unbearable because THAT'S ALL THERE EVER WILL BE. I honestly don't think he'll ever be able to make it.

Loved the giants. He has a great eye for grotesque.

Doubtful he ever will. :( When i saw the premiere of it at the Toronto int'l filmfest, he said that due to the film's non-completion, the banks seized ALL of the costumes/props/sets and auctioned them off to some other holding-house co. I asked Terry about it afterwards and he said they were trying to raise money again to buy it all back, but if they couldn't (or if the props were destroyed/sold to someone else), they'd basically have to start from scratch. =P

V5 or V7? I prefer the cap on, but only because it makes the pen weigh more. I also prefer the V5.
