Why does the South Station Red Line complex smell like a pet store?
It may be sweeping compound, which is this sort of sticky material that dust and dirt sticks to. They toss it out on the ground and then sweep it up and then you don't need to mop, see? But it does have a particular smell which may be a pet store smell, I'm not sure. It's not a bad smell, just a sort of woody and chemically and... well, a bit rubbery smell, I guess. It's hard to describe and even more diffucult to forget.
