I watched the most sad episode of Futurama last night.. the one where he finds his dog that had waited for Fry to come back from his pizza delivery..

littlegirltoast (Jesse Dangerously) once told me he "had the drums" they used to make that song, meaning they sampled a break from some old record. I'm not familiar with the piece you're referencing here, but it may be that an element of it has also been sampled by whoever they got to make the Futurama themesong.

I believe Danny Elfman did the Futurama theme, which owes a bit to E.V.A. (off Jean Jacques Perrey's 1970 "Mood Indigo" album.) There's tubular bells, and the chord progressions are similar in a bombastic "This Is The Future!" way, though E.V.A. is more groovin. Spacewalkin instead of delivery ship-zoomin.
