When we first moved to Rhode Island, I was chagrined and bewildered™ by the fact that there was no bottle refund here. I even went so far as wandering around a grocery store with a bag of empties, looking for the machines, before I realised.
For a while we saved our cans and returned them when we visited NY. Then I found out I was living a bad Seinfeld episode and stopped.
