CoasterDynamix, which previously brought us an incredible B&M-style modelling system called The Scorpion, is about ready to release its wooden modelling kit, The Comet. This battle coaster is fully operational and features a three-car three-bench National Amusement Device-like train, a beautiful wooden station (check out the arches and supports!) and optional light package. Retail price looks to be around $169.99.

Oh, and it's HO scale.

Lordy, that's hot.

I am in awe, and really jealous because I'm sure you're going to end up with it, and I won't. With some of my birthday money, I went out and bought Rollerscape from the Tech Museum in San Jose. It's also available through ThinkGeek. What a waste of money. The 'tracks' are incredibly hard to get aligned so that the marbles can roll down them without veering off the track. I think I fiddled with it for a couple of weeks, dismantled it, and put it in the closet for sometime later when I forget how frustrating it was.

All it needs now are a miniature Lee van Cleef and Ray Harryhausen rubber dinosaur!

HO? I'm not into coasters, but the model railroader in me (yes, I am a geek) is just fainting...
