For what it's worth, the players are sticking by Grady on this one. I don't wish to bash him, either, because you're right, he did an excellent job in the post-season all the way to the 8th inning of the ALCS Game 7. Leaving Pedro in was a gamble, and he took it, and unfortunately it didn't pay off.
In time I hope he will be remembered not as a Boston sports pariah but as a good manager who unfortunately made a prolific mistake. And honestly, I hope he stays for 2004.
