I was looking up hilarious diseases that Grandpa thinks still exist, and I was slightly saddened to find that dropsy is just edema.

And King's Evil (aka scrofula) is tuberculosis of the lymph nodes around the neck, and the ague is a general term for a disease involving serious fever that probably usually referred to malaria.

I was going to say that "malaria" is a silly term in itself since it means "bad air", but I suppose that air that is full of malaria-carrying mosquitoes is indeed bad air.
