Current Project: 5-starring every song on Medium. I'm getting good at Medium. I'm glad about that. I've tried Hard and even in practice mode slowly learning the riffs, switching from Medium to Hard is like switching from a pennyfarthing to a souped-up turbocharged motorcycle like the ones Kaneda and Tetsuo rode in Akira.

Proudest Accomplishment So Far: 5-starring Mirsirlou. The song is always good for an adrenalin rush, and I was gobsmacked last night to find I'd 5-starred it. Cha-ching! Fist pumped in air, life was good. Even better than 5-starring Jessica the other night without realizing it.

Favorite Songs to Play, GH2: Jessica, Rock This Town (nobody but Eddie Knox can play it, though), Search And Destroy (Iggy Pop), Strutter (Kiss), Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You Tonight (Spinal Tap), Girlfriend (Matthew Sweet), Mr. Fix-It (The Amazing Crowns), Less Talk More Rokk (Freezepop -- my god it's mesmerizing) and of course TROGDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR

Favorite Songs to Play, GH Rocks The 80s: Synchronicity II (The Police), Bathroom Wall (Faster Pussycat), Turning Japanese (The Vapors), Heat of the Moment (Asia). Radar Love and Ballroom Blitz are also good but the BEST versions of them were done in the 70s, and the 80s version of Ballroom Blitz especially doesn't rock as it REALLY should.

Favorite Songs to Play, GH3: Talk Dirty To Me (Poison), The Seeker (The Who), My Name Is Jonas (Weezer), Knights of Cydonia (Muse), Holiday in Cambodia (Dead Kennedys), Barracuda (Heart), Cult of Personality (Living Colour -- and the new master with the new guitar solo is amazing), Anarchy in the UK (Sex Pistols), and Cliffs of Dover (Eric Johnson, and this one is so much fun! Though it's a goddamn pain in Medium.)

I haven't unlocked the co-op songs yet, which is a goddamn shame since I don't have anybody to play with (and I'm not sure if I wanna enter in The Cheat) and I know at least two of them that I want to do so badly it hurts (Sabotage and Suck My Kiss). I also haven't purchased any of the extra songs just yet, but the Lacuna Coil and Die Toten Hosen sound worth it. The boss battles suck, though (my strategy is to save up the Blinking Attack, save up a Difficulty Up attack, save up a Double Note attack, and hit 'em all at once to try and get the other guy to quickly fail) but The Devil Went Down To Georgia is a lot of fun to play.

I guess I should now get GH1 to round out the entire thing.

That... sounds like video gaming satisfaction to me.

What kind of a-bomb? A nuclear a-bomb!

I'm not really a gamer, but I'm kinda impressed by the range of songs that are apparently available for Guitar Hero. Who knew.

Sabotage is, sadly, not as good as you want it to be, as far as the chart goes. If your enjoyment of it comes from the music itself, you will probably get more out of it.

So, almost all my favorite songs show up in your lists. This makes me feel good.

Although, my favorite in GH3 is Mississippi Queen, which I noticed is not mentioned. Yeah, it's short, but it's so goddamn much fun. Ner-ner-NEER-ner.

I've purchased all the songs for GH3, but haven't played about half of them yet.

Saving up multiple attacks is definitely the way to go on the boss battles. Also, it's good to fire one off (like the blinker) to break up their battle power phrases. My personal favorite "screw you, boss" combo is difficulty up, double note, and whammy bar or broken string.

You should come over. I don't have anyone else to play GH3 with either, and I've only got a couple of the co-op songs so far.

Have you tried the Dragonforce song yet? Also, if you haven't played the game in easy mode, you can make quick money that way, as each song is worth $300 5-star'd, and each encore/battle quite a bit more. But if you don't care about unlocking things, skip it.

Dude. I just got addicted, and am at about that level or lower (medium, 4s and 5s) with GH1. I've just started working through GH2. The 80s version is calling me, REALLY CALLING ME. We should jam sometime.

I'm experiencing serious "knowing that song too well" disease, though. Doing "Message in a Bottle" was killer, because I kept trying to play notes where the sounds actually are, in the song. Not quite right, at least in Medium.

I, too, wish I could get someone around who'd do co-op mode with me. I did a few with [livejournal.com profile] juldea a week or so ago, but once per month is a sad, sad rate.

Also, it's no fun to never play bass unless you're doing two player or using practice mode. Why isn't there a "hell yes, I want to rock the bass live" mode?

GH Rocks the 80's???????????????????

Also: I must get GH 3 just to have Talk Dirty to Me.

My personal favorite, though I play everything on easy, is GH2's Ace of Spades.

Yeah, though I did like some Krokus, that cover always seemed weak to me. They'd more or less lost it by then, as far as I could tell. I'm surprised they dredged that thing up.

I need to get my hands on some Rock Band, stat.

Also, speaking of boring basslines, Reptilia is the worst I've played. "Play this note for a while... play this other note for a while... play another note for a while... now play the first note for a while..."
