We all know that a Shipoopi (shi-POOP-i! shi-POOP-i!) is the girl who's hard to get -- or, depending on which side of the chorus you're on, the girl whom you can win yet. But just WHAT THE DICKENS DOES IT MEAN?! Is it really just a nonsense word made up so that 9th grade productions can snicker while singing it?

Me and Meredith Willson are gonna have a long, long talk some time up in the Lofty Clouds, I tell you what. (I'll also have to thank him for the Chicken Fat song, which is one of the best things Robert Preston ever did.)

Also, anyone who's just gotten the song in their head, you're welcome. It won't wash out for days.
Squeeze her once when she isn't lookin
If you get a squeeze back, that's fancy cookin!
They're filming a movie A MOVIE A MOVIE WOOP WOOP WOOP MOVIE ALERT MOVIE MOVIE MOVIE okay around the Fort Point Channel today. It's a Jennifer Garner/Matthew McConaughey vehicle called "The Ghosts of Girlfriends Past" or somesuch and already sightings of ol' Wooderson have circulated around town. The office is abuzz over who they may see hanging around our normally run-down industrial waterfront location, shades of 2005 when The Departed was shooting around here and at least one person ran back in from their lunch break breathlessly talking about how they saw Matt or Leo from far, far away. Lacey Chabert and Michael Douglas are also in the cast, but so far all the talk I've heard about is McConaughey! Garner! Garner! McConaughey! McConaughey AND Garner! Garner AND McConaughey!

Me, I saved my rapt fascination this morning for watching a couple of techs beginning to assemble a large 50-foot telescoping (louma? panaflex?) crane with what looked to be a Gyron mount. Funny, ever since the SCTV parody Polynesiantown, I've had somewhat of an affinity for crane shots. Lord have mercy now that is a loverly piece of equipment. I'd watch them move that thing all over God's creation and still want to see it go through its paces again and again and again (she will never get sore if you beg her pardon!)

It's also the prime example of the "any song can be improved by adding the words 'in my pants' to the end of it" rule.

Is this the same movie shoot that has replaced the logos on Filene's clocks with "PARK 24 HOURS" signs? Apparently the building is supposed to stand in for a parking garage.

Okay, Spatch, it's now officially too weird. We both have spunky Maine coons with too much personality, we live two blocks apart, your roommate is a friend of mine, and we both work in Fort Point? And I was reading Abbie *years* before I even met you.
Strange...
My office is at Congress and Sleeper; where's yours? And where is the filming today -- I want to check it out!

Also, did you know that Scorcese has been filming his next Lehane film in the area lately as well? Most of the filming will be elsewhere, but I had to move my car for an Ashecliffe crew truck once already.

Um hi, you work RIGHT DOWN THE STREET. (I'm at Summer & D) The casting office for the movie is downstairs from us, we got On Notice Not To Bother The Nice Folks a couple weeks ago.

Well, if you have Garner, you also might have Afleck (Unless he's spending ALL of his time with Jimmy Kimmel).

I'm closer to you at work than I realized. I took a walk for lunch today, and ended up going across the channel once I realized it was right there. I went down Summer, across some parking lots and eventually Farnsworth Street, and back up Seaport Boulevard. I saw the film trucks and was peering around for cameras, but alas I missed all the celebrities.

(While walking down Farnsworth, I saw what looked like a very eligible sandwich shop that boasts Rao's Coffee. Have you been? Do you have the sort of breaks where we could do lunch (or some similar meal) there sometime? Do let me know.)

1. I curse you, the summer between 8th and 9th grade and Family Guy for getting Shipoopi stuck in my head.

2. Yes, I can even recreate the dance number. TWENTY YEARS LATER.

3. They filmed Harold & Maude in my neighborhood. History rocks.

I was at Dave's "housewarming" party a few days before Abbie's disappearance. I did get to meet him, even held him. You, on the other hand, I only barely saw as you were out and about but briefly. We may not have been properly introduced, even.

However, I was the Maine Coon owner who went Abbie-hunting with Tracy, and who showed him what Coon tracks look like in the snow, as Siena had herself escaped briefly that night that we went searching.

I actually like Lucky's, on occasion at least. I would happily meet up there.

Do you go to Flour? They are like an addiction; I gave them up for Lent last year.

Farnsworth has Flour, which is tasty but pricey, and always has ridiculous lines.

And it has Yada, a family-owned middle-eastern cafe and sandwich shop, which is excellent. On Mondays they have a lamb, rice and yogurt special that sounds like dog food when I list it like that, but is actually tasty-riffic.
