John Prine is playing a gig at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium on September 13. Opening act is Sarah Lee Guthrie (Arlo's daughter) and her husband (Arlo's son-in-law) Johnny Irion.

Who wants to go?

(Yes, this is a "Who wants to drive to Lowell and see a show" question. Heck, if you drive, I'd probably buy yer ticket, gas being how it is and all. How's that?)

I may have told you this story before, but back in 1973 I went to the Buffalo Folk Festival at the University of Buffalo. We were walking across campus and three guys came up to us wondering where the workshops were. I recognized them right away as John Prine, Steve Goodman and Loudon Wainwright III.

He's putting on two benefit concerts, on Sept. 12 and 13. The first is in Lebanon, NH. The Brattleboro show on Saturday is sold out, though.
