Oh boy, it's getting to be that time of year again where we go out and eat all kindsa crazy food and go on rides and lookit dem animals and sometimes, just sometimes, witness something that truly scares us to the very core of our souls. Like custom embroidered Snuggies or deep fried butter on a stick. Fair season has actually been upon us for quite some time now, actually, but mostly in Western Mass. Once again I missed the Cummington Fair and if anything's going on at the Three-County Fairgrounds (I'm kinda hazy on what's been happening there) I missed it, too.

But the Topsfield Fair and the Big E are yet to come, and I'd like to go, and maybe you'd like to go, too, and if so then by howdy lemme know when yer free. I typically like to go on a Sunday (the last day of the Big E is usually quieter but sometimes lacking in places) but it all depends on who can go when. I depend on the support of Viewers Like You when it comes to transportation, so I try to be flexible with my schedule. I'll chip in for gas, too.

The Big E runs from next Saturday, September 17 to Sunday, October 3. Topsfield runs from October 1 - 11. You can make most of a day out in Topsfield, even just an afternoon if it's slow enough, but the Big E is an all-day event. It's an hour and a half west of Boston and is the biggest fair we've got around these parts. All the big players in New England will be there: Massachusetts of course, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and you know Maine's gonna represent. And there will be plenty of food.

Anyway, if you're thinking about going to one or both, or if you're already know you're going on a certain day, lemme know. Maybe there can be a caravan or something! Who knows? It'll be an adventure!

Big E is in the Happy Valley and who can resist going back there after living there for several years? ;)

It calls to one after a while.

We have hopes of attending at least Topsfield via Zipcar, and it will be on a Sunday because of my Saturday classes. Do be in touch and maybe we can coordinate.

Maybe we can go to the Big E again and I can be sick and bemoan my fate the entire drive back again. Also, didn't go to Topsfield last year, so maybe it's time for that one. I'm surprised you didn't notice the giant pumpkin growing in the yard diagonal behind you five years ago that my roommate grew for that!

Lemme check my schedule.

I'd be interested in going, though as you know, I also lack a car.

My wife and I are planning on going to the Big E, probably on the 26th of September. We'd be starting from Worcester, however, after an overnight with my parents. However, if you want to come along I think we might be able to make some arrangements.
Some year I need to go to the Topsfield fair.
The 17th is a Friday, BTW; and the extra traffic around the fairground at Big E time ups the travel time by half an hour - teh suck.

I'm interested in going at least to the Big E, but am not sure I will be available on a weekend until the last one it's open for. I like fairs, in general.

Huh, there are other events at the Estern States place. Like, say, the Northeast Highland Cattle Show on Oct 9.

September 17th is a Friday, btw.

In two weeks, I'm moving to an apartment less than a mile from our state fairgrounds. I've never been to our (or any, really) State fair, and I'm so excited and I hope I get to go next year.

I've never been to either. I don't want you to plan around me, but, if the agreed upon date works, I might be interested.

(I'm also trying to figure out when to see the corn maze, so, weekends are tight right now.)

I would love to go to any and all and can generally make myself available on weekends. Unless, of course, I've got something going on with this little theatre thingie I'm doing at the moment. ;)

Also sign me up for interested in the Big E and other fairs! (Also, while I don't have a car, I could probably rent one and drive around and suchlike)

I go to the Big E every year!

Oh, man, driving through Connecticut and Massachusetts and Rhode Island yesterday, I saw a billboard for the Big E every mile or so, it seemed like. And every time I thought "Man, Spatch always makes that sound so fun, too bad I can't make it.
