Hey, rocks from space are the ultimate terror-inducing threat. They could strike at any time and there'd be fuck all we could do about it, and then half the planet would die. However, a) going on about them makes you look like a nut, b) they are not ideologically opposed to the US of A, since gigantic space rocks are not generally given to ideology.
