Abbie was blocked up again last night. Poor thing. I didn't know until this morning, when I found him laying low under the bed again. He seems to be going a bit more freely again, but it looks like he was asleep when the blockage passed or shifted or whatever cause his poor backside was soaked. Of course we can't have him hanging around all day like that and I'm pretty sure he hates it as well, so I hauled him up into the sink and sprayed him down a bit.

Sensing that I was about to radically change his worldview as I picked him up, he struggled and mewed when I put him into the sink but pretty much calmed down once I started spraying. There was a feeling of camaraderie here -- I said "Hey, kid, we're all in this together" as he let me wash his backside and I think he understood. The feeling, at least. I tried to keep him around so I could towel him off but he decided it was time to go, so he hopped down and ran off while I grabbed in vain for the towel that wasn't there. I had to hunt him down with a few paper towels instead.

Now there's assorted puddles around I have to clean up, one interesting spot near the catbox itself, and probably something under my bed that I'll need to tackle with the Nature's Miracle and some mop-like apparatus. And I wonder why nobody visits.

On the other hand, I have a syringe full of Sample which I shall be dropping off at the vet's on my way to ArtBeat today. If I could just find a specimen jar for it...

Oof. Poor kitty.

Also, why did Cat Town appear, sans photos, then comments of cursing, and then disappear? I'm still curious. Did I miss a follow-up?

Well, that Cat Town episode was almost a year old, actually. My LiveJournal cluster had "issues" a few days back (I got moved from Green to something like I think Chef or Cartman) and they advised us to use their super space-age "post repair thingy" to repair any posts they may have munged in the move.

So I tried it, and the two posts they reported as munged were a set of Allan Sherman lyrics I posted in August, and an episode of Cat Town (part 1 of "THE DANCE CONTEST".) So I clicked 'yes please repair these nicely' without reading the instructions on how to use the thing, which stated that A: The posts would be set "Private" and B: the timestamps on the posts would change.

1. Then lo did der Spatchel looked upon his mistakes; 2. And he saw that it was bad, 3. and thus did he set about to rectify 4. these mistakes.

Even after I edited the posts to reflect the proper timestamp, people still saw them in their current friends list entries for whatever reason. I don't know and I'm not keen on figuring out why only because it's over now and done with. But anyway, the posts were still appearing as New to many, and much to my chagrin, further editing needed to be done on the CAT TOWN post (since apparently the <a href> tags hadn't parsed correctly.) Unfortunately I hadn't realized this until I'd woken up much later and my capacity for Picking Up On Things had increased greatly with sleep.

So I kept the Allan Sherman post backdated but killed the Cat Town post outright because I was upset with it. Here, you zeroes and ones, go initialize yourselves or something.

And now you know -- and knowing is half the battle.
