The politics of hold
Aug. 9th, 2004 08:32 amEnterprise Rent-A-Car (remember how I absolutely love their commercials?) also has incredibly cheesy hold music. Well, it's not so much the music that's cheesy as the voiceover that accompanies it.
"My name is Don, and I've been with Enterprise for thirty years. And I've watched this fleet grow from 20 cars to a hundredty-jillion."
Well, okay, he didn't say 'hundredty-jillion' but you get the point. The whole thing isn't that bad, but "Don" here doesn't sound a day over 27.
Also, I heard Don on Enterprise's hold music on Friday, and darned if he didn't have a completely different voice. I'm talking different accent, different cadence, and quite a professional baritone timbre to it all, instead of the "They pulled me out of the service bay to make me record this hold announcement" voice that I just heard.
Oh, that Don!
