NO YOUR LIVESTRONG BRACELET DOESN'T MEAN YOU GOT SPECIAL PRIVILEGES
THAT MEANS IF THE LIGHT IS RED AND THERE'S A WALK SIGNAL, YOU GOTTA STOP TOO
OTHERWISE PEOPLE YOU NEARLY RUN OVER AS THEY TRY TO LEGALLY CROSS THE STREET IN THE CROSSWALK SUCH AS CERTAIN PEOPLE NAMED SPATCH WILL LOUDLY DEMAND YOU PERFORM CERTAIN ANATOMICAL IMPOSSIBILITIES UPON YOUR PERSON
AND NO, YOUR MIDDLE FINGER DOES NOT MEAN "THANK YOU FOR POINTING OUT THE ERRORS OF MY WAYS"

i would say it's dangerous for pedestrians. :)

seriously, though, i generally don't bike on the sidewalk (perhaps 2ft from the ramp on the curb to the bikerack - because i *am* lazy), and i generally don't like it when people do it. i think it's rude to pedestrians and makes life harder for those of us who want to bike on the streets, because drivers tend to assume then that we belong on the sidewalks. however, i think that if you're going sufficiently slowly, it's not particularly dangerous. most bikers, i will grant you, don't do this. :)

A while back I was walking into town when a cyclist came round a corner and hit me. He fell off the bike, while I took no significant damage.
Even more amazingly (considering the general quality of the neighbourhood), he accepted that it was his fault, and didn't attempt to beat me to a pulp for having the audacity to be walking on the path.
