CONSIDER THIS FAIR WARNING

I am looking for one (1) or more (more) people to accompany me to the EASTERN STATES EXPOSITION in nearby, beautiful SPRINGFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS on MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 2005. Mostly I'm hoping for someone with a car as this is going to be an all-day event that transcends bus schedules.

Now you may be trying to come up with excuses involving "responsibility" and "day job" and whatnot, but honestly there is no good reason to be responsible on this Monday. Call in cough cough sick, call in dead, call in cat's on fire, and COME OUT TO THE BIG E WITH ME.

Why?

One word.

Charo.

That's right. Charo will be playing the Big E on Monday, September 26. That's just under two weeks. And of course, along with her virtuoso classical and flamenco guitar playing, you'll also enjoy all the sights and sounds and smells that the Great New England State Fair has to offer, including the EAT YOUR WAY THRU THE STATES challenge that many have attempted and few accomplished. We will also have time to pet baby animals, make fun of the fundies and OxiClean demonstrations in the "Better Living Center", ride down the giant slide on sacks, and other fun things.

There may also be pierogi.

Um, sure. I could ask for the day off. That is the weekend I am going to hit the Durham Fair in CT, so the timing is right. I also have a car, but would appreciate a) gas money help and b) good directions, as I have never been.

Admission is $12.00 on Mondays. Parking is usually around $5-$10, depending on whose front lawn you end up parking on. Gas and parking money can happily be provided.

Oh and there's also a $20 ride-all-rides wristband offer for the midway too, if those assembled choose to ride more than just one overpriced midway ride.

I have class at night and i wont be able to not go to that. but i have an out of town guest. so it could be lots of fun.

Charo performs at 3:00 PM and 8:00 PM.

Maybe you can schedule a day to see Percy Sledge (Mon-Thu Sep 19-22) or Taylor Dane (Sep 30-Oct 2)!!

We were at Riverside Park many years ago when Taylor Dane had a concert going on in the Speedway area. Mom didn't like her cause Ms. Dane had a FOUL MOUTH in front of the microphones and EVERYTHING. See also: 'FACED

I'd love to go, but have class until 3:30, but maybe after that, if you all are still around? Also, of course, my car is little help since it would be starting off from Amherst, not Boston. I've been trying to decide what day to hit the E. A day when I'd see friends seems like a fine choice.

I always like staying til the End Of The Fair or reasonable facsimile thereof. (I'd even offer to drive home if current driver is tired.) If we plan for the 8:00 PM Charo show, I don't see why we couldn't meet up with you somewheres and do The E up right!
