Adventure Gamers is reporting that Telltale Games has secured the game rights to Sam & Max: Freelance Police and will be working with Steve Purcell to put out episodic games similar to Telltales' Bone series.

My feelings for this announcement can only be expressed in the form of a 700K animated .GIF located here.

I will be happy if this really goes through. There have been too many starts and stops.

I don't suppose there's any news concerning the other sadly abandoned LucasArts series, Monkey Island?

This is a new concept to me. Does "episodic games" mean that they'll be putting out a series of shorter games with an overarching plot?

For that matter: is Telltale's Bone series any good?

I'm pretty sure LEC was working with Steve Purcell too, but I guess probably not to the degree that Telltale will. I can't even remember which cool ex-LEC people work at Telltale. Dave Grossman?
