Adventure Gamers is reporting that Telltale Games has secured the game rights to Sam & Max: Freelance Police and will be working with Steve Purcell to put out episodic games similar to Telltales' Bone series.

My feelings for this announcement can only be expressed in the form of a 700K animated .GIF located here.

Eh. I think Tim S and Dave G were just as big a part of what made MI great as Ron. None of them appear to be bitter at all (though I've only ever met Tim), as they've all had much success with other projects, probably partially due to their fandom from the MI series. I mean, yeah, MI5 wasn't that great, but they'd all moved on from the company at that point and could really only be gratified by the fact that someone still wanted to make a fourth sequel out of a series they originally didn't even intend to have *one* sequel.

If anything, Tim might be secretly a little bitter about them still having rights to Grim Fandango.

Wait - MI5? Did I miss something? The last I ever heard of was Escape from Monkey Island - what was 5?

Oh yeah, you're right. I usually call it "EMI" but I figured that might be confusing to those not initiated into the most ridiculous depths of the fandom, so I got the number mixed up. :) MI5 is the one that will probably never happen at this point.
