I can get a song stuck in your head with one number:

Five hundred, twenty-five thousand, six hundred

I know your brain has already finished the line. But feel free to pretend you don't get it, and post "Huh?" in the comments anyway.

I just saw the preview last night before Corpse Bride. By the end of it, the entire theater was singing along.

(Okay, I made that last part up, but it would have been really cool if it did happen.)

Which theater were you at last night? I was at Loews Boston Common watching A History of Violence. There was a boatload of people in suits and nice dresses wearing nametags shuffling in as K and I left.

And I had no idea until last night that a Rent movie was imminent. And as for that song, it was only this past year that I learned it wasn't simply an a cappella staple but from the musical. Ah, what a blissful (read: ignorant) existence I lead!

The Somerville -- I'm not sure if CB is still playing anywhere else.

Huh?

My daughter has been a devoted follower since it originally opened and is counting the days until the release.

I only know it from seeing a preview. I thought it was a really stupid song when I thought it was some movie's theme; realizing it was actually from a famous musical didn't raise my opinion of it.

I honestly don't get it. I was hoping I'd find some clue that would make me go "oh, now I get it" in one of the comments. No joy.

What touches me about this song is the thought that Larson, realizing he was coming down to the last year or two of his own life, must've asked himself this question and come to this conclusion.

Whoa. I knew he'd died of an aneurysm, but for about 6 years now I've thought he was HIV-positive. Crap. That changes a lot.

I've never seen it (but I do know the song; it was in a cabaret I saw and I have many obsessed friends). I'm not sure I really WANT to see a film version before I see it on stage...

Thanks for being the reason it's stuck in my mind now.

Oh, that's so unfair...I had to go look up all the lyrics to finish the damn song. If I could post an lj-cut tag, I'd post them all here so this doesn't have to happen to anyone else! I'd spare them the agony of the damn pop ups on lyric sites!

It's certainly more pleasant than the song that gets stuck in your head when you put down the number "neunundneun."
