Before I went off and had my little SL building spree last night, Goodrich showed me the first three episodes of Spaced, the British comedy with more clever pop culture references than you can shake a lightsaber at. Very nicely produced; you can easily tell how Shaun of the Dead was borne from this braintrust. Oh, for a region-free DVD player! I rarely feel personally marginalized by the giant media conglomerates and the copyrights they vigorously enforce, but I sure don't dig it when The Powers That Be say "No, no, you can't watch this import, little boy, unless we decide to release it!" and then... not release it.

Date: 2005-11-04 05:37 pm (UTC)While in London in July i bought the complete series of Spaced but've yet to be able to watch a single episode for the same reason. Luckily, my UK copy of the wonderful TheOffice-precursor The Brittas Empire seems to actually be Region-0 and play just fine on my xbox; i plan to order the other seasons ASAP.
