I made a deal with myself yesterday. It is a just deal and a fair deal.

If I finish off my room, and keep it and the surroundings in a good and clean condition, then I can look for a kitten.

But not before! People need to stop sending Abbie offers of new best friends.

Apropos of nothing: Oh, Thomas Kinkade, what won't you whore out?

Whenever you are really ready, there WILL be a kitten. There are way too many kittens. I'm just glad I went to a no-kill shelter for Lotus, because I fell in love with at least four others, and the only thing that kept my brain from exploding when I had to walk away from them was knowing that they were going to be okay. :(

That said, I look forward to hearing Abbie's kitten stories. Oh my yes. Because kittens are BATSHIT LOONEY.

Yeah, Lotus totally picked me. I really didn't want an orange and white cat -- he looks almost EXACTLY like Yoda, and I thought that would make me too sad. Obviously, I was wrong. He couldn't have made himself any more clear about wanting to come home with me unless he had, I dunno, started a blog or something.

There is no such thing as a free kitten. ;)

The skwerls they were watching hungrily didn't think they looked so sweet.

I can't wait to hear about your kitten stories, cause Lord knows, I've got a few new.. experiences.. ever since we adopted Peanut. I never owned a kitten before.. hell, I'm supposed to be allergic to the darn things.. but when Peanut came along, I knew it was just gonna work out. No regrets from here.. :) And ya gotta put up a pic when ya get yer new kitty..

And of course, you remind me that I need to clean up too. Bleh.. :P

I find it hard to not go OMG KITTENZ COME HOME WITH ME AND WE WILL HAVE FISH OR MAYBE JUST CASSEROLE, IT'LL BE AWESOME when I see them, even though I'm seriously allergic, my wife is twice as allergic as I am, and our dogs would probably harass and lick and chase the poor things to death. Kittens have powers.

Speaking of resisting the urge to bring home every cat in the shelter, take a look at the photo album we made from all the pictures we took at the shelter where we adopted Sherlock last year: http://audioboy.net/temp/MHAA-Shelter/index.htm

I did a google search to find an inspiring kitten photo for you.

The search took a wrong turn onto a 2-headed kitten page.

Which led to a 2-headed calf page.

Which led to a conjoined birth page.

Which led to a rat king page.

Which led me back here to tell you that I have no inspiring kitten photo for you.

May the sky rain potatoes!

I wonder what "Glistening Snow" smells like.

I'd probably like it. I'm fond of snow scented things.

Huzzah!

It's true: I was very angsty whenever I would look at websites from rescue orgs and the humance society at times when I couldn't yet get kittens, because those kittens would no longer be "free" when I could, but there will always be kittens, including the right one for you.

I too look forward to Abbie's dealings with kitten batshittery.

Man. Now I feel lame, having no kitten art in my post. I tell you, though, that kitten could have been painted by Mr. Kincaide. Note the glowing light emanating from its tiny little ears, and the unnatural radience in its eyes.

(hasn't anyone told that guy that windows don't glow like that when it's still sunny outside?)

Anyway, good luck to you in your kitty search (and most of all, good luck in postponing it any longer.) We have decided that since Mickey's death, Mathilda seems to be a much happier kitty and will probably be better off if we remain a one-cat household. Good for the cat, but very hard for me. I've had to work very hard at not pulling in to the Humane Society every time I drive by.
