You've seen the movie "the Forbidden Zone," right? I was introduced to the song by Dr. Demento, yeah, but I thought its placement in that movie was undeniably entertaining.

That's one of my favorite scenes, too. That and Danny Elfman as the best Satan ever.

Wow, I only know that song from Lee Press-On and the Nails. It's on their CD, El Bando En Fuego.

I bought that album because I wanted a copy of this song.

Unfortunately, I have a sinking suspicion that they sing "El Dorado" instead of "Alvarado"

Huh. I thought they were singing Alvarado, but I could be mistaken.

Pico and Sepulveda

Thanks for the link! I used to listen to Dr. D live on an LA radio station, so it's a nice burst of nostalgia for Sunday nights in high school.

Wasn't it great to get four live hours of Demento? I miss those days.

I used to catch him on Thursdays, wherever we could hope to find him (at times, it wasn't easy.) I've been listening to him on the web for a few months, but it's just not the same...the comedy music scene has been littered with crap over the last ten years.

I live about 3 minutes away from Pico and Sepulveda and it pains me to no end that that street corner is sadly bereft of any tar pit factories. It's a damn shame.

I also now have the alphabet song from the Forbidden Zone in my head. Argh.

Well, you live by the actual intersection, I live by the actual Tar Pits. We should get together and leverage our synergies.
