You remember about a year or so ago when I found that Eurotrash club cover of "Ode To Billy Joe" and we all had a mighty good laff-n-cringe over it? And how I said I believed I'd found the most laughably awful song ever?

Well, it's been replaced by what sounds to be a wacky morning DJ's fusion of Dukes Of Hazzard and what he thinks is hip-hop.

He calls it "Duke-Op."

You should go out and treat yourself to some delicious ice cream if you can listen through it entirely on your first try.

A little bit of me died just then.

Just then... somewhere right before the line about Daisy Duke working her shorts...

And there was great sadness.

I swear, I got as far as the Public Enemy bite and had to stop.

Ice cream for me

I don't know what he was trying for... it was like he was trying to write a song about a show he didn't know anything about. Mostly it's name-dropping of the characters over some sample loops that weren't even from the show — what was with that air raid siren? And then he ended with the tagline of an entirely different TV show. Fascinating.

This is physically painful.

I blame you, spatch. You are a bad, bad man.

I think it is not an air raid siren. I think it is yodelling.

But mostly I feel bad for the Skynyrd. It don't deserve that.

I'm not even halfway through, and I want to kill somebody. The only available target right now is me, and I'm okay with that.

I made it all the way through, but I don't think ice cream is going to ease the pain.

How sad is it that I know who Whimsical Will is, and probably hold an opinion of him similar to yours? And while we're on a Doctor Demento-related subject, this reminds me that sometime I'll have to voice my opinion on the 'big star' of 'funny music' in recent years, the Great Luke Ski.

Right. When I first heard him, I couldn't stand him, then I thought he was okay...and now, ten years later when I've rediscovered the show, I don't like him. (Of course, there's not much I like on the show now. Makes you wonder why I still listen.)

I made it through 27 seconds before I felt my ears begin to bleed and had to turn it off. I think I should get credit for making it to the first "chorus".

*shudder*

That's Crank, right?

I can't tell you how excited I am to see Crank

Noah (though I think those were Lenny Bruce's last words, too)
