The basement's flooded. We've got anywhere from a half inch to maybe 2 of standing water down there. Most of the standing water was where my boxes are.

I've been spending many a happy minute moving the dry boxes to higher ground, and trying to salvage what's left of the boxes in the water. I can't move the boxes in the water, though, since the bottoms have disintegrated and picking them up is only going to dump the contents right back in the drink. There are shelves nearby that I can throw the stuff inside on there to dry. There's a lot of stuff to dry, though, and if the water level rises, the "safe" boxes are only going to get hit next.

This is kinda depressing.

Oh shit. Hope it stops raining soon. Been through this at work, though thankfully not at home, so I know the suck involved.

Won't help now, but the year of the Iowa Floods, I learned that stealing a few wooden pallets for basement storage is a good idea. Gives you 3-4" of time to slavage crap.
