I'm not gonna talk about being sick, or crashing for extended periods of time, or the lovely panic attack in the middle of Davis last night (brought on by screaming babies, hello screaming babies how I love thee) but I am going to mention that a review of the embarrassingly middle-of-the-road You, Me & Dupree that I read this morning mentioned that Owen Wilson's character in this movie is pretty much his character Dignan from Bottle Rocket, but 10 years later.

This is distressing because it means that Bottle Rocket is 10 years old.

Actually, Lightning McQueen's a bit more dynamic that Owen's usual laid-back "whoa, hey, take it easy, man" stoned types (and he plays a lot of 'em.) Lightning McQueen has a lot of energy in him. Not manic, just -- with energy.

I don't really remember Wilson's character in "The Life Aquatic" being as typecast as some of his other stuff, but I may have been too busy wishing for an entire album of Bowie covers in French.

(And I can't be the only one who thought of that movie throughout the World Cup, since Zindane's nickmame was Zissou.)
