S: Just ate a lemon pepper frozen fish filet that'd been in the freezer for god-knows-how-long. Probably March.
TR: and this is different from your normal routine how?
S: I'm just sayin is all. Didn't even realize it til I was about halfway through. If I get a tapeworm, I'm naming it Skippy.
TR: Please. You'll be fine. The fish was cooked first, then frozen, and then you cooked it again. Just remember, "That which does not kill me..."
S: "...ought to at least put me out of action for a week."

Heh.

FIL doesn't have too many sensible food boundaries -- he'll eat anything, despite the presence of bright green and blue hues, fur, mysterious black dots, or very slow movement.

We were halfway through last night's casserole when he said, "I'll be glad to have this dish back in service, it's been in the freezer for about TWO YEARS."

I would guess that while it probably had freezer burn, it was completely and utterly dead and safe. No living parasites, no living critters of any kind deeply froxen or otherwise.

So other than a strange stale flavor, the worse thing you can probably expect is a lack of nutritional value.

Can you even get a tapeworm from fish? I thought they were more a livestock thing.

Not sure about tapeworms, but you can get some sort of worms from fish, most definitely. Friend of my father's did. (I will spare you the icky dtails.) It was from a fresh-caught, undercooked fish though.

Anything in a Gorton's package is safe, as far as parasites go anyway....

That may have been an earthworm, then. Depending on the bait...
