I started out a new hero on Victory tonight in preparation of the upcoming Issue 8, which will make doing hero stuff a bit more fun.


Energy/Energy Blaster. Chaos! Everybody's flying everywhere.

For those who can't make it out, the bio reads thus:

The day Rita Lyn Foster discovered that she could harness her powers of ADHD and channel it out towards others was the greatest day of her life! Except for the day like when she was thinking about this certain like David Bowie song, and she turned on the radio, and like the radio was TOTALLY playing that song!

ps the song was the one that goes "we are the goon squad and we're coming to town, beep beep"

And we certainly do meet the neatest people!

They're bringing in the Police Band (hero equivalent of the Newspaper) and (I believe they're called) Protector Missions.

Also, bonus things for every 3 months you've been with the game. Like, new costume pieces and things like that.

"Protector Missions" sound disturbingly like "Escort Missions".

I'm still not sure what they're supposed to be, but I'm guessing they'll be more fun than that.

There's already escort missions in place on the villains side. They're called "kidnap missions."

From what I hear, the Protector Missions will be the opposite of Mayhem Missions. Instead of busting shit up, you have to prevent stuff from being busted up. I actually don't like that concept, for one because I like busting shit up and maybe as a hero sometimes you HAVE to bust shit up, but also I have bad bad bad memories of that horrible timed cape mission for the Heroes where you have to wade through hordes of lowbie enemies before the two or three yellow cons destroy that one object, and if they destroy it, you have to go back and start ALL OVER AGAIN.

Is that every 3 months a character has existed, cumulative, so there'd be a reason to log in my character from mumblemumble years ago?

It's per account, so all characters on an account get rewards based on the total number of months that account was active, regardless of gaps.

So, yes.

Safeguard missions, actually. They've also redone faultline to be actually almost livable, and as a city zone. supposedly there are also new costume pieces, but most of the ones I've seen so far aren't that great.

I'd be looking forward to veteran's rewards more if I was getting more than just the trenchcoat. But for me, that will be it.

I'm looking forward to the change, mostly because I'm getting sick of the hollows, and the non-hollows missions at that level suck almost as much because of the lack of a travel power.

I never picked up City o' Villains. What's the Newspaper?

Instead of running back and forth between mission contacts to Kill 10 Rats and then Kill 10 Large Rats, you can check the newspaper to see if there's any criminal opportunities to take advantage of, like stealing something that the Circle of Thorns has stolen, or beating up a Tsoo boss just cause you haven't been featured in the paper recently.

Every time you complete a certain number of newspaper missions in an area, a special contact gives you the ability to accept a Mayhem Mission, which basically means GO TO PARAGON CITY AND BUST SHIT UP. It's a lot of fun.

The blurred-out part of the "trimings" image is causing this weird optical illusion for my messed-up eyes so it looks like the blurry lines are pulsing moving up and down ever so slighty. Or I may just need way more sleep.

Sorry to make your eyes go all wonky and stuff. The blurred-out stuff is just in-group chatter on an invite-only global channel, so I didn't feel too comfortable keeping it in there.
