I swear to god someone went and hid a Newbury Comics bag in my room with the following DVDs inside:

Big Trouble in Little China
The Saddest Music In The World
Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist Season 1
Annie Hall

They were even clever enough to include the receipt which clearly shows the last four digits of my credit card number as well as the date of purchase.

I just don't remember buying them, so it was a lot of fun to open the bag when I found it and gleefully exclaim "Hey! Dr. Katz! I've been wanting this!" Maybe if I go dip a cookie in some tea I may remember taking the trip to buy it, but for now, I'll settle to be happy with what I got.

I just hope that 30-foot yacht what just pulled up on a trailer isn't a Forgotten Purchase of mine, either, cause I wouldn't even know where the hell to buy a boat.

You never had to help in a yacht purchase at work?

Big Trouble in Little China -- Classic Cheeze.
The Saddest Music In The World -- Never seen it. I'd like to.
Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist Season 1 -- Funny stuff.
Annie Hall -- Quite possibly Woody's best film.

I dunno... I'm pretty fond of Play it Again, Sam. (but I own them both, anyway.)

Somebody on the Akamai internal chat described this phenomenon as: "Hey! Presents from drunk me!"

Boats: I suggest REI. :) At least for the human-propelled kind.

Perhaps too much sugary cereal led to this mystical Newbury Comics visit...damn, I miss that place.

I think finding forgotten purchases is the best part about early onset dementia. I do it all the time.

Several mornings per month, my stepsister would find really strange stuff in her kitchen. Sometimes it would be bags of groceries. Sometimes speeding tickets. She realized that she was one of the sleeping-but-awake-how-bizarre people when she took a common sleeping pill.

This reminds me of the time I bought Groundhog Day not remembering that I'd already bought it...

Oh. I bought those for you, used a credit card similar to yours, and left them in your room for you.

Happy birthday, Spatch.

You will find that although The Saddest Music itself is not bereft of laughs and/or quirky fun, by far the grandest pleasure of that DVD will come from watching the included short film, Sissy-Boy Slap Fight.

It may indeed prove to be the best thing you ever find out about in your life.
