She'll be more bothered by the stuff that's bothering you so much that it made you forget her birthday.
This would be true of my mother - MY mother, who likes to hold everyone accountable for the entire month of May with any wrongdoing being a strike against mother's day and anything she wants us to do becomes "just do it for me, for MOTHERS DAY."
which is to say, the ultimate guilt-tripper about dates... but she'd still be more worried about me. And/or you, as the case may be.
You feel worse about than she does, I'm sure. I'd think most adults would be past the stage where birthdays were a big deal. Apologize, send a card with poem or something about a son that forgets things, and make it up next year.
