They're chanting "Let's go Red Sox" at the Patriots game.

Boston is clearly a committable committed city this Sunday.

just as long as the pats don't take up all the good luck while they completely squish miami

I remember being at a particularly dismal Blue Jays game once where a few fans were chanting "Go Leafs* Go". I think it implies that (a) the team being cheered for is so important that people can cheer for it out of context, but also that (b) people are ready to give up on the team that is currently on the field.

* The Toronto Maple Leafs, our NHL hockey team. Yes, it's Leafs, not Leaves.

Huh. Hockey is the only place I've ever heard it said that way. I figure it's okay as long as we say Smurfs instead of Smurves.

Fun fact: apparently 'dwarfs' are people of extreme short stature due to congenital or heritable condition, while 'dwarves' are those little bearded guys who live under mountains.

Was there a version of 'King of Spain' with the Leafs in that line? The version I know has the Habs calling him up to drive the zamboni.

Just listed to all 3 versions that i have on the computer here at work...
Live Noise - regular version - Leaf's
Live Noise - Cranky Monarch Version - Hab's (huh, never noticed that before)
Barganville - Leaf's
(in a side note, i'm somewhere in the crowd there on Nature Sounds)

And the Leafs occupy a special spot in my heart for their being referenced in a particularly neat piece of comic timing.

...which LJ apparently is determined I shouldn't reference. It's here: here.

Doesn't seem too likely for the 6-0 (shortly to be 7-0) Pats.

I find Dice-K strangely adorable for some reason. I like the Sox; I'd be delighted if they win.

As for the Patriots, however, I'm still hoping that a meteorite will come crashing down in Foxborough. :D

Didja see the onion article about how they sent gagne to a minnesota minor league team for the rest of the post-season? One that didn't, actually, exist? Sometimes I wonder if the O sneaks in true stories from time to time.

it'll be fun to see if the Donkeys fans get the Lets Go Rockies chant going tonight. Tough TV call too - watch the Broncos get killed or watch to see who gets to play the Rockies next week. This town isn't used to such multitasking.
