You see, I'm not convinced.

We're all missing a very specific piece of data. We have no actual idea of scale for the sign. For all we know, it was actually microscopic. Given that, I'm of the firm belief that it was absorbed and assimilated into Anson Williams's body though his right pinkie-toe.
