Jun. 7th, 2008 09:18 pmEvery now and then you make a realization or two that just puts things into decent perspective and you realize that life is charmed and life is good all things considered, and the most recent of these realizations was made the other day when I noted that I recently got the chance to stand on a stage and advise people to "tip the waitstaff" and actually mean it but still retain a sense of irony about the ol' cliche. And if you find that life has given you that kind of chance, you realize that yeah, things can't be all that bad.

Date: 2008-06-08 05:35 am (UTC)I was watching the last half of Caddyshack on TVLand. The next thing scheduled was Footloose. There was nothing else on. I decided to start watching Footloose, but had no intention of finishing it. I had seen Footloose, of course, when it came out in the theatres in 1984 when I was 13 years old.
I ended up watching it from start to finish for several reasons:
1. Awesome cheesy 80s soundtrack
2. Awesome early Chris Penn performance
3. Excellent early Sarah Jessica Parker performance
Of these, it was Awesome cheesy 80s soundtrack that made it for me. I realized that nostalgia can be very comforting, and that life in the 80s, growing up, wasn't as bad as I remember it. The songs were bad, but they were so full of cheese that it totally made up for it.

How about have your daytime schedule meet my daytime schedule over something edible this week?
