Here I am, playing Fallout 3, having a blast with one of the best open world games ever, enjoying the slow-motion VATS combat action and the loneliness of the wastelands and the quests which range from the silly to the downright disturbing, and having a lot of fun bonding with an AI dog of all things ("Dogmeat! Find some ammo, boy!") but what do I find myself liking best about it so far?

The one-line Sifl & Olly ref I found in the Germantown PD.

No, I don't understand it, either.

hint: check the 911 logs on the computer terminals inside the PD.

That bit was super-cres.

I think I was sold on the game in the Super-Duper Mart, when I got into the back room and activated the terminal. There was much awesomeness involving a robot.

Oh, now I have to try that. I did get a couple of Ant Guardians to fight each other, but that's been it so far. (Frag mines and narrow tunnels are very helpful for this.)

I'd type more but the museum is calling.

My lower lip always trembles when I tell Dogmeat "Stay here, boy, it's too dangerous!" and he whimpers, because you just know he wants to go rip some throats out of some Raiders for you.

This game is tits. I've apparently dropped 10 hours into it already, and I'm still just nosin aroun Megaton. I was hoping the game would be less hollow than Oblivion, and it's totally surpassed my expectations.

What a pleasant week this is for left-leaning gamers in America.

Also, the cult leader in Megaton is totally a hat-tip to Archimedes Plutonium, right?

Argh. I haven't been at that PD yet, but now I gotta.

(Well, you know the problems I've been having with Super Mutants)

It's so crescent fresh! Super cres at best!

As much as I loved this game, I did not find myself enamoured with the main story. I thought that the ending forced you so badly into a particular path that any emotional impact that it might have had became completely farcical. If you make it to the end with Fawkes, and talk to him before you make the final decision that needs to be made, you'll see what I mean.

So it was a great, open and deep world with great side quests, which makes up for a sucky main event.
