A friend of mine works for a Verizon store and, apparently, they got four phone books the other day. Not knowing what to do with them (or, at least, three of them), he was thinking of tossing them in the shredder. Sure enough, a random customer coincidentally came in that day to "buy a phone book." A little confused, my friend tried to explain that Verizon doesn't sell phone books, it just sells phones, he tried to give the customer one of the spare phone books that had just come in. Learning that it was meant for the store, the customer backed out of the give away deal insisting that that particular book was, well, "needed by the store" and was not meant for him (whatever that means). Instead, the customer excused himself to attempt to buy a phone book at Barnes & Noble across the street.
