I'd like to add to my vote "I think."

I don't know where I'm going, but I sure know where I've been.

Not all of these choices are mutually exclusive.

I'm who I want to be and where I want to be and doing what I always said I would and yet I feel I haven't won at all!

My answer has changed substantially in the last year. :) I, literally, don't have anywhere to be right now.

Several answers: I don't know where I want to be, but I've got an idea. Where I am now is where I want to be in that it will help me reach that idea, i.e. "I'm heading there," but it is not a goal in and of itself.

I was thinking geographical rather than philosophical. I think the answer still stands, though.

I wonder what VISA's answer to this will be.

(I guess that was a successful marketing campaign after all.)

My real answer is "mostly (a) with significant chunks of (b)", but that seemed significant enough that (b) was more accurate.

*hugs*

May I propose an alternative poll for cats?

*I am where I want to be, but now I want to be over there.
*I am not where I want to be, open that door.
*Thank you for letting me in, now let me out.
*I don't know where I want to be, but I bet it's behind that closed door.
*I know where I want to be, but I'm not supposed to be there, so I'm going to wait until you leave.

In my experience, the notion that cats always want to be on the other side of doors is often a human misconception. Cats often are exactly where they want to be. They simply require that the door be open, because a door in any other state is inherently offensive to them.

You left out "I'm not where I want to be, and I don't know if I'll ever get there." I suppose that boils down to not really caring enough to have anywhere to be, perhaps.

We just got a new cat (who makes number four in our house) who is about a year old and seems to have always been a stray based on the reports of the people who brought her in and based on her not really being familiar with how a house works.

She's really sweet and fun, but doors CONFUSE THE FUCK OUT OF HER.

I think I might pretty much be where I want to be in one area of life and totally confused about where I am and where I want to head in another.

I'm feeling pretty okay about having worked out *any* of it by this point, though.

I'm not where I want to be, but I'm heading there, which is where I want to be right now, being of the opinion that treating where one wants to be as a destination or finite set of achievable goals is probably folly.
