First, I'd like to say that the best song in the world contains these lyrics:
I'm at the Pizza Hut (what)
I'm at the Taco Bell (what)
I'm at the combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell
Those lyrics and not much else, honestly. It becomes a mantra when repeated over and over. Every time I hear the song, I think of the moment in Clerks where "Chewbacca" (what a wookiee!) comes on in the soundtrack. It's completely random, even in the face of Dante and Randal's Star Wars talk, and is great. This Pizza Hut & Taco Bell song deserves a random soundtrack moment like that.

Anyway.

This just a brief rundown of what went down this weekend: While at Cedar Point enjoying the fun roller coasters and all that stuff, I had a stomach bug or virus or god-knows-what kick in. After no less than five episodes of memorable power vomiting while in the park, I was admitted to the nearby Firelands Medical Center emergency room with severe dehydration. When you can't keep water down, that's bad. When you keep trying to vomit and there's nothing there, that's real bad.

So they stuck an IV in me and rehydrated me much like how they do it with drunks. My bloodwork showed I had no intoxicants in my system at all so they took x-rays and found no obstructions in my abdominal area, and released me on my own recognizance with a prescription for this anti-nausea mediciation. This has so far has kept me from vomiting again, but also knocks me on my ass.

That's the short of it. I'm going to write more about it because there's a lot of stories and a lot of thanks to people to give, but suffice to say I am back in Boston, at work right now but probably going to head home early. Everything is going to be all right, now it's just a matter of the body getting back into some kind of equilibrium. I'm keeping liquids down fine and survived a 12-hour car ride home from Ohio yesterday, and even got a little food in too. We'll see what today brings.

Just nothing from the combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell, please.

In Kentucky, we called them Kentucky Fried Taco Huts. They had all three, together, and it was magical.

Sadly, the only restaurant within walking distance from our school is a "Kentucky Fried Taco Hut." Guess where the kids are always asking to go. :-/

Sorry about getting sick on your trip though! Maybe it was just motion sickness from the long car ride combined with the topsy turvy amusement park rides. I don't think my stomach could handle all that!

Together, they spell Yum!

Seriously, Tricon Global, a spin-off from Pepsico that owned all three restaurants, changed it's name to Yum! Brands a few years back. I think it started as a joke since that was the ticker symbol for Tricon Global on the NYSE.

By the way, the Cedar Fair Entertainment Company's NYSE ticker symbol is FUN. Between YUM and FUN, I don't understand how Spatch's weekend went so horribly wrong :)

And also A&W, Long John Silver's, and WingStreet (who?). I did see a combo store that was part A&W recently.

My roadfood rule is to never eat anywhere that I can eat in Memphis, which keeps me out of strange Steaks und Shakes.

(TRUEFAX: my college girlfriend once spilled a steak & shake chocolate malted on a box full of CDs at it ATE THE ALUMINUM OFF OF THEM.)

Once upon a time they took a Pizza Hut and a Taco Bell (that were only mildly drugged), put them together in a cage and forced them to do what eventually became natural.

Geez, I can totally commiserate with you because I just got out of the hospital with the same shit. Only they admitted me for several days for fluids and tests. I hope you heal much faster than I have!

Glad you're feeling better. I avoid Waffle House for the same reason you'll be avoiding TB/PH combos, even though the Waffle House food poisoning didn't happen to me. Witnessing it was bad enough.

(At least your food source wasn't a Pizza Hut/Taco Bell/Long John Silvers combo, as you would have been overwhelmed with beige food choices and buckets full of grease. I think I've seen one Yum! outlet that had all five choices: Pizza Hut; Taco Bell; LJS; KFC, and A&W. My stomach curdles at the thought of eating there.)

I've got that taco smell

I am a great lover of "Combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell". I believe the Wallpaper remix version to be EVEN BETTER.

Also this: Jamaica Ave

I broke down and listened to this song, and it was all ok until I passed a combination KFC & Taco Bell, which was close enough to get it lodge in my brain forever.
