An update on the steps

spatchThe steps are, indeed, being worked on. When I came home today I found the rubble cleared away and the concrete foundation patched up. Patched up, one hopes, a little better than the last patch-up job which they did a few months back.
The stairs just need to be finished off now. I presume we'll get the concrete-on-brick treatment that we got the last time. In the meantime, they're good enough to gingerly walk on, so I don't have to keep using the back door.
We shall simply call this escapade Unexpectedly Demolished and await the next exciting chapter.
