I need a new backpack.

My current backpack is nearly 10 years old. It's an AlphaServer-branded backpack I got when I was working at Compaq. The straps are frayed around the shoulders, there's at least two spots where the zipper teeth are bent or smushed so you have to work the zipper carefully around those, and last night one of the bottom straps broke and had to be re-attached through careful use of knots, the strap adjuster clip, and friction. It won't be long before that fix won't work anymore, either.



I don't want to get a new backpack.

I have true love for my backpack. I think I bought the black Eastpack with brown leather bottom between undergraduate schools (14 years ago?). It has a rainbow slinky (a kids' meal toy from Sonic from a dear friend) wrapped around the top strap. Several places the zipper hesitates to move. There are holes at the base of the zippers from overstuffing it during graduate school.

Two weeks ago, I thought I had lost the backpack. There was serious grieving.

I'd love a good excuse to get a new backpack. 6pm has these overland equipment bags on sale and there's a backpack. I could've sworn I saw a coupon for Jansport backpacks floating around someplace. You can get them cheap now that school's started and stores are putting them on clearance.
