I got home tonight in very low spirits and walked into the den just completely exhausted and deflated and dejected and I felt very lonely.

The cat, who is known for his occasional bouts of empathy, walked in and said "I'll be your friend!" and sat down near me.

Then I accidentally stepped on his tail and he yowled and ran out of the room.

This story is not allegorical, but feels like it almost should be.

I felt really low yesterday and so indulged in asking my friends for a booster. Everything I read in other people's journals seemed destined for nothing but misery and turmoil. So I asked for people to share something positive and...it is amazing the number of positive things people are thinking and doing.

Don't loose hope.

That's happened to me. I think it has happened to most people who are friends with a cat. He still loves you. And so do we!

I've got a mock-allegorical cat story from Wednesday, too.

I came home to a massive pile of poo in the middle of my carpet. It was created by the cat who I've half-bankrupted myself to keep alive, and who I spend 20 minutes a day giving medication.

I believe this means that I am stupid, but maybe that's just the Wednesdays talking.
