That's not very helpful
Dec. 28th, 2009 03:33 amThe IMDB search function now returns "popular" matches as the top results. Aggressively so. I searched for "The Blob" tonight and it decided what I really wanted to see was Bob the Builder and Kermit the Frog:

Note the Exact Match list further on down the page. Either someone's search engine is having lots of fun playing with weirdo algorithms (turning 'blob' into 'bob' into 'kermit the frog as bob cratchit' is one of the best stretches I've ever seen) or it has a horribly skewed sense of priority. If it's the latter, they could at least have the decency to mention sponsored results. Even Google does that.
Tomorrow on More Tales of Stupidity, we check police logs for dumb criminals.
