spatchAN ANNOUNCEMENT OF COMIC PROPORTIONS!
Four years ago to this very day I started down a long and winding comic road that eventually led to atrophy and ruin and a domain squatter picking up a favorite domain of mine, but that's ... beside the point.
On January 10, 2000, I started an online comic called Catatonic Comix. It was a "comic" in the "sequential art" definition of the term, featuring topical Photoshopped pictures of famous people with added captions of them saying bad words and such. It's actually pretty funny. I think you might like it.
I added new stuff on an almost weekly basis for a year and a half, then it fell victim to the atrophy that envelops one when Real Life Issues pop up and won't go away. (Also, EverQuest. But I am so denying that if you try to call me on it.) And when I started it up again in 2002, I forgot to renew the domain and it got snatched up by some dude who advertised porno on all his squatted-upon sites. It was sad. But so it goes.
I have the original 104 comics back up and online with all-new annotations and stuff, presented like some kind of twisted retrospective. I think you might like it now, too.
So here it is, publically available: The Annotated Catatonic Comix!
If you don't want to spend too much time browsing, may I offer these as the Best Of (and do keep in mind the 'art', as it were, gets better as you go along):
There's also the Discombobulating Catfractionizer that randomly shuffles panels around for fun, and a bunch of comedy extras that may amuse those who are into minutiae.
I may come back to this exciting comedy premise someday, but I've got a lot of stuff to get together first before I take on any new continuous projects. However, I consider some of this stuff (the August 2000 bits most definitely) to be some of the funniest stuff I've ever done, and so there'll always be a soft spot in my heart for this sceptered website, these Comix.
