ok this one is like a bit gross

I got into Seattle on Saturday, it was nice and warm, everything was cool, we went out to dinner at the Hurricane, I had a lot of greasy food and then crawled into bed quite exhausted.

A few hours later I woke up with a lot of stomach acid in my mouth, and went over to the bathroom and threw up. I only threw up a little, I didn't heave my entire dinner -- only, it seemed, just enough to get rid of whatever it was that was the problem. I'm thinking it may have been the eggs. I don't know. I washed up, felt better, and went to bed.

The next morning I woke up with my uvula three times its normal size.

You know, the little dangly thing in the back of your throat? It'd swelled up to a cartoonish size. And if I moved my head just right, it'd hit the back of my tongue and trigger my gag reflex. Oh ho wasn't that a fun way to start the day.

So I drank a really cold glass of water, and then I gargled with warm salt water for a while, and then it went back down to its normal size. It was just really really weird to have around for the morning, that's for sure.

Oh, and I've laid off the greasy foods for a while, too.

i've had my uvula swell up before, to about the size of a dime. i woke up with it like that...i think i'd been snoring or something, because my entire mouth was dry, but especially the top third of it or so. it hurt like hell to try to swallow, but it was fun to look at in the mirror and poke around. it only lasted for a couple of hours, which was a good thing, since i had to work that morning. i think i posted about it earlier this summer.

it'd be a great party stunt if you could make it do that on demand.
