Red Shift staff writer Michael Simon examines a slug research subject during a writing session for the very-far-off Red Shift adventure entitled "The Space Slugs of Sunaru". Much like how a tree's rings can count age or the layers of a sedimentary rock can show a timeline of geological events, the debris and food remains on a writing table can indicate just how far into the session a picture was taken. This answer for this particular photograph shall be left as an exercise for the reader.

This leopard spotted slug, common to the Hall Avenue area during summer rains, showed up this evening for study. It is perched on a plastic parking pass on top of an inverted plastic take-out food container, which itself is on top of the take-out food container and a potential lethal dose of soy sauce or whatever it was that went with the dumplings. The inverted top fit snugly on the container, ensuring that the slug was completely safe from the sauce during its entire visit.

After a few minutes of close scrutiny the slug was thanked for its time and set back outside on the sidewalk.

Oh, and we plotted out the entire four-part series, scene by scene. We will be adding the slug to our credits as Creative Consultant.
