The first thing I did when I saw Sarkeesian's video was show it to my daughter. An interesting conversation ensued. She'd seen examples in other media, but was a bit surprised at the analysis of the Mario universe because she mostly knows it through Mario Kart Wii, one of the mentioned spinoffs in which the female principals are all playable characters.
