If your missing free time asks, you didn't hear it from me.

tl;dr Custom reverse-engineered SWG server emulator, being built from the ground up by hardcore crazy fans, features being added as they go. Almost all professions are implemented except for pet classes and Jedi. Player cities pretty much done, theme parks and the Warren are in, GCW and faction content in place. The goal is to get the state of the game to just before CU. This includes adding JTL. YES. There are currently about 2000 people playing on the publish server. (Coronet is the biggest hangout. My home is on Dantooine.)

Oh yes. I am getting back into the joy that was just screwing around in one hell of a sandbox. The idiosyncrasies are still there, the graphics are still old, the mouselook implementation involves the dead zone in the middle of your screen, you can't sort by name on the Bazaar, and the server-side lag is such that you can shoot a charging bol, see it drop dead 30m out, and then watch its corpse happily slide up to you. EASY HARVESTING.

On the other hand, I fucking have a Naboo House again. YES. A NABOO HOUSE. STYLE 2. YES. AND I REMEMBER PLANETARY GEOGRAPHY. I REMEMBER TOPOGRAPHY THAT NEVER EXISTED FOR A GAME THAT EXISTED TEN YEARS AGO.

The admins are cool; they don't mind if you afk macro or multi-box or multi-box afk macro. Just keep your characters all in one account, don't create a second account, and for the love of the Emperor don't place any buildings near theme parks or POIs because they will get SWEPT CLEAN AWAY by the HANDS OF GODS during INFREQUENT SERVER PURGES.

Also, in order to play on the emulated servers you have to install the game from the original SWG discs, then use the emulator team's own patcher to grab their updates.

If you don't have the discs and enjoy things like, say, going to a bay in Sweden for your software, apparently that's okay too as long as you're not an idiot and publicly brag about your awesome torrenting skills. They can't actually verify the legitimacy of your copy so honestly, those who are banned for breaking that rule bring it upon themselves one hundred percent.

On the Basilisk server as Choopy and Frotz Nitfol. 'owdy.

Dude, this is pretty awesome. It's not so much my free time as Mr. Shiny's. He still occasionally laments about the "good ol' days" of SWG, generally when anyone brings up MMOs in general, or especially TOR. He might actually still have his discs, although we did just purge the spare room two nights ago - but we are both sentimental enough that he might have kept them and I might not have questioned him on it.
